About Dot's Cafe
Dot's Café is a locally owned and family-operated breakfast and lunch spot located inside the Mary E. Switzer Building at 330 C Street SW in Washington, DC. We were built to serve the hard-working federal employees and nearby agencies that keep this city running, offering fast, affordable, and satisfying meals that fit your workday. Whether you're stopping in for a hot breakfast, a freshly made deli sandwich, or one of our rotating daily specials, we're here to make your day better with food that's real, comforting, and made with care.
The name "Dot's" is deeply personal — honoring the owner "Marquette Henderson" spouse's grandmother, a gifted cook who passed down not just recipes, but a lifelong love of sharing good food with others. Dorethea, a retired federal employee, and spouse that work alongside him as his "Chief Operating Officer" learned to cook at her grandmother's side and now carries that legacy forward with her own family. Both she and her husband were raised by grandparents, and his connection runs even deeper through the Randolph-Sheppard Program, which empowers blind entrepreneurs. His grandparents ran a snack bar through the program, and today he continues their legacy as a proud owner and visionary leading Dot's Café as a model of inclusion and opportunity.
Now, the next generation is carrying the torch. Their daughter manages the café's day-to-day operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly while staying true to the family's values, and their grandson ensures the store stays stocked. At Dot's Café, every meal is more than just something to eat — it's part of a story. A story of family, heritage, hard work, and heart. And whether you're grabbing your usual coffee and egg sandwich or trying our soup of the day for the first time, you're part of that story too.
